Can I get picked up in Puerto Rico for an old US warrant?
Were getting married next month and were planning to go to puerto rico for our honeymoon. But i just realized I may have an old warrant from about 10 yrs ago for an old felony dwi charge i never went to court for, in a different state. Do they run your name for warrants and such when flying there, and are they tied into the same ncci that local enforcement uses? Not sure if i’m even naming it right, i think it’s called the ncci, national police warrant/arrest computer. In other words, do i need to worry about being pulled over in a rental car while on vacation there and my old warrant popping up, or are they are a different system and should be fine for the week we’ll be there? Am I even going to be able to go there? or would that be ran at customs when we even land?? It’s an old warrant, i’ve gotten pulled over local and nothing came up, but i guess it would in the ncci system? thanks, would rather not ruin the honeymoon ya know.
Puerto Rico is a US territory so it is very likely your name will be on their watch list when you fly there. You will likely be approached by security at the airport.
My friend had a traffic ticket unpaid in one state and she lived in another state. She took a flight that changed plans in the state with the ticket and security stopped her and made her pay the fine before they would let he continue onto her original destination.
